sanguinary guard.

Hey guys, i have a question.  I recently purchased a box of sanguinary guard.  Some friends of mine say they aren't really worth taking in a list and that the points could be better spent elsewhere.  When i purchased them i knew that i might just end up using it for bits to make sergeants and other models cooler.  I would just like your people's opinions on it.  Thanks!

I agree with your mates, they really aren't a very good unit for the amount of points they are. They aren't that scary in combat especially with power weapons getting weaker and those 2+ saves don't stand up to as much firepower as you would think. Just use the bits for characters.
