Great report, Bigtoof (sorry for the late reply, but now that I see the batrep is fully posted, I MUST comment).

1. I agree wholeheartedly with your opinions on the Seraphim, they are pure gold. Their ability to reliably get their Act of Faith going means that they can inflict a horrendous number of wounds with their shooting. I participated in a small mini-tournament recently (no photos or report, sorry), and a large squad of Seraphim accompanied by the Living Saint simply annihilated everything they shot at, including Plague Marines. Only I wouldn't use the Saint if you intend to keeping having people want to play you...

2. Re: the Retributors. They tend to be a hit-or-miss unit in my experience, though mine almost never get the rending shots off. That's why I've started fielding them with an imagifer so that they can re-roll the attempt. Alternately, you can stick the Canoness with them to add +1 to their faith rolls.

Speaking of whom....

3. The Canoness actually has some decent potential as a Guard ally. The FAQ states that Acts of Faith generated by characters can affect allies, so you could potentially use Esmerelda to give your Guardsmen Preferred Enemy and +1 Initiative if she gets her Act of Faith off. Just some food for thought.

Otherwise, great report....and as everyone else has already mentioned, wow Ogryns are scary when buffed with Biomancy.

I like the list!  Looks fun with a bit of DA in the mix that I haven't seen for a while.

You simply must do Batreps.  I remember that you had great fluff going for your mates and I want to see it develop.

If you have any more of it, please post it here, even as a warm-up.  I'm trying to remember how you had things set, but I just remember that it looked very fun.

Best,

Yeh I might see if I can get something up. Problem is my main opponent plays daemons and there is a fair amount of broken cheese in his list...

And the regiment was the 1st Gryphonne, specialising in grab chutes and melta weaponary.

Thanks Vyper, I'd be tickled to see anything you can come up with.
The 1st Gryphonne were really interesting to read.  Hope to see them again.

Scryex Lives??!!

Sorry, just it's been such a long time!
Glad to see you and I am glad that I tried out the sisters.  I always did like your reps and wondered what all the hubbub was about them.  Now I can see that even though they are a shadow of their former glory, they really do good work.  I wanted to try the Saint, but just couldn't come up with the points easy.  Also, I try not to build lists around special characters (even though she's woefully underpriced and full of awesome).  The Retributors do need something.  THe Imagifier sounds like a good idea.
And I did think about putting Esme in with the Ogryn, but that would be too much overkill.  If I remember correctly, I think preferred enemy is only in assault?  If it is also for shooting then well... she's worth her weight in adamantium.
Ogryns with Biomancy are my new favorite toy.  I want to see how well they perform against something a bit nastier next time.  Maybe power armor or the like?
How are you handling Fliers?  I'm still at a bit of a loss, just hoping to ignore them, but they're so prevalent in my meta that I can't just not deal with them.
Good to see you again!

Best,

(Realizes he's responding 3 days later than he intended to). Whoops...

Yeah, I haven't been on that often, nor have I been writing many batreps. Both of which, incidentally, are things that I clearly need to fix. :)

In my Sisters games in 6th, I have yet to deal with any flyers (thankfully), though I've heard that taking a defence line + quad gun for a Retributor Squad isn't a bad idea...though thats for Sisters alone, not as an allied contingent for Guard as you're using them.

Also, yes...Preferred Enemy now works for both shooting and assault (rerolls 1s to hit and to wound). For Battle Sisters, its not that great, as their basic faith power lets them reroll 1s anyway. For masses of Imperial Guardsmen, however, I think it might be a little more useful. :)

Keep the reports coming!

BigToof

Hi Scryex,
Apologies as my reply is also three days late...
I am really liking the sisters as I work them more into fluff and also the game.  They are a nice, sort of strange combination of cheap and cheerful, as they are basically discounted marines with slightly worse stats.  But they have all the shooty of a tac squad.
I was re-reading the Canoness, and her preferred enemy ability seems to only work in assault sadly enough :(
But maybe good for a last second charge if needs be...
