Title: Big Guns Contest 2013 [Rules]
Post by: Narric on September 02, 2013, 09:49:56 PM
Rules:
- The Unit/Squad must have the ability to carry the Factions' heavy/heaviest Weapons. For example, WH40K Heavy Support choices would all be considered "Big Guns" units for this Contest. All Tanks that ARE NOT Dedicated Transports may also be entered (So Land Raiders and SoB Immolaters are alowed).
- Monstrous Creatures may only be entered if they carry Ranged weaponry.
- Forge World Units and Models are allowed for this Contest.

Dates:
- Entries can be submitted via a PM to Narric (Me) (http://secondsphere.org/index.php?action=pm;sa=send;u=177) from September 2nd until October 21st.
- Voting will take place from October 22nd until October 30th.
- Winners shall be announced on October 31st.

Prizes: - Please note, this is a little outdated, and I will be chasing up companies on what they can/cannot offer as prizes. Please don't be upset if they have changed their minds.
1st Place = A Boxset Supplied by Mantic Games.
2nd Place = Mixed Bitz Bag supplied by Bitz Box
3rd Place = Second Sphere Dice Set

Along with Physical prizes, Award Seals will also be granted to the Top 3 Entrants.

And here is a picture of the Custom Second Sphere Dice up for grabs;

Good luck to everyone who is planning on entering. :D

Quick question; Land Raider. Not a dedicated Transport, but can transport. Big gun or no? I mean, 2 Lascannons and a Multi-Melta? Does it get heavier?

I'm not entering a Land Raider, just to get clarification. I may buy a Heavy Support JUST to have something to enter.

Does a Riptide count? That can carry a pretty BFG.

@ Declis
Land Raiders are the ONLY  exception to the no-transports rule. That little line is mostly so we don't have "Warfish" from Tau or Edlar Wave Serpents :P I'm wanting the biggest Guns from every faction ;)

@ Jayne
If memory serves, the Riptide is an MC but MCs are allowed provided they have Ranged Weaponry/Upgardes ;)

Hmmm, how about a battleship from Firestorm: Armada?

Or a heavy warbeast from Hordes, as long as it has a ranged attack?

In Firestorm there are Dreadnoughts that are bigger than battleships, and Hordes has 1 or 2 classes of beast beyond heavy. I think it's Colossal and War Engine for the two sides. Neither one is found very often in average-size games.

Just trying to figure out what my options are.

I'd assume a Battleship from Firestorm: Armada would be okey. I'd assume its to a different scale to WH40k ;)

As long as it is modelled to have a Ranged Attack, Warbeast from Warmachine/hordes are ok.

Hope that helps ;)

The models are of comparable size: 1 inch for the little ones, up to maybe 8 for the dreadnoughts. Of course, what they represent is a wee bit different size. I believe 1/20,000 rather than 1/72!

I assume apocalyptic guns are a bit too big to enter in this one?

Are you thinking an "Epic" titan, or have you built a scale titan? :P

But yeah, and kind of Titan from the 40k universe is eligible ;)

1:1 scale titan?

Is linking to the Google Maps street view of it sufficient?

I remember the days when a Tau Manta/Imperial Titan/etc would be restricted to the Forgeworld and Apocalyptic unit contests... :P

I don't often consider Forge World ooptions, or how to play Apoc, so it never entered my mind with regards to the contest.

I'm letting it  by for now, as we want as many entrants as possible :P

Yes, that would be exceptable, provided you can give proof that you're the one that constructed it, and can give co-ordinators to help people travel to it for an in-person viewing. ;)

Hope I made it - not really sure if I just missed it because of the time zones though :D

Also, I PM'ed links to my picasaweb archive, was that an okay solution or should I somehow have attached the pictures to the PM?

EDIT:

Hm, perhaps I actually had great time because of the time zones :D and here I was, all stressed out about getting those pictures taken and PMs sent.
