Taking a look at the member list by most recent date registered, I see a few problems: https://secondsphere.org/index.php?action=mlist;sort=registered;start=0;desc. If you hover the mouse over the web sites of a lot of these members they are linking to porn, spam, or other dodgy sites. Could these accounts be deleted? Also, and I know this has been discussed before, I really think that more effective measures need to be introduced to stop spammers from being able to register.
I sadly don't have permission to delete profiles. If I could, I'd do a lot of pruning of the user registry.
I've cleared a number of accounts, but anything larger scale would require higher permissions than what I have :P
Thanks for cleaning off the spam websites from the accounts though. This does help the situation somewhat.
We have a number of independent measures in place to mitigate illicit registrations. We've stopped thousands of registrations over the last year.
I will investigate terminating accounts that have no post history and haven't been used recently. This should clear up most old spam accounts.
More spam accounts:

Is there a way we could delete the numerous accounts with zero posts?
A swear a number of these older ones I've found had nothing on them on a previous pass through, and now they have links offsite.
If you have access to the admin panel, purging accounts is straightforward.
At present I can only ban, and only one account at a time. When I looked, we have about 15 memberlist pages of accounts with zero posts (just over 400 accounts). Not to mention I can see there are a number of accounts waiting for approval and activation.
You need Sorck to execute his administration priveledges and purge some accounts in that case ;).

I have purged many questionable accounts. We have reportedly blocked over 250k spammers via one of our methods.
Thank you :). That is an awful lot of spammers that have been blocked.
This looks like a spam account to me: https://secondsphere.org/index.php?action=profile;u=16492
