Ghost of the Past
« on: January 27, 2012, 09:07:07 PM »
Hi Folks,

Some of you may me remember me from here and the other forum site in the past. Some of you like FT and Rafe iv met in real life nearly 2 years ago at a meet at Warhammer World. For Those of you who don't remember me or have not had the misfortune of meeting me yet  ;) Let me introduce myself.

I am Mana-Valkyrie or MV for short, I am not quite 30 yet, this year though, time does have a time of flying whilst your busy. For the last 18 months my 40k/Fantasy hobbies took a hiatus due to spending the working week away from home and coming home for the weekends whilst working on my professional qualifications. Which finished just before the Christmas holiday's and I have gone back to a normal working routine of being able to go home everyday. For work I am in the military and as for what I do, I am an aircraft avionics supervisor, i.e. I maintain an aircrafts electrics and electronics or repair defects with said systems, whilst supervising junior technicians.

The hiatus on the hobby, came down to the fact that by the time I had travelled home from where I was studying and staying, the 2 days at home became pretty short and I just didn't have the energy or inclination to start up projects that may not get touched for weeks or months at a time.

I have been playing/modelling/painting wargamming miniatures since I was about 10, maybe a bit younger (hard to remember that far back these days) but I started out with historic armies and battles thanks to my Dad, who is still a wargames nut to this day. I eventually branched into 40k and Fantasy, through some of the old GW board games such as the original Space Hulk and dragged my Dad along too. In fact he still is collecting Fantasy Armies today.

Over the years of playing Fantasy Battle and 40k, I have collected and played Dark Angels SM's, Word Bearers SM's, Eldar, Imperial Guard, Renegade Guard and Orks. For fantasy battle iv collected and played High Elves, Empire and Skaven armies. Due to my work and moving most of these have gotten lost or destroyed over time. Prior to my hiatus from the hobby, I collected up a large amount of Lizardmen units and my wife who is into Fantasy Battle but not 40k a slightly larger amount of Dark Elves, which we are now our lives are settling back to normality are about to start gradually working on.

For 40k I still have some of my Word Bearers units, not many of them, carefully stored away. I have not really thought about which 40k army I would like to pick back up and given the upcoming 6th Edition rules, I may wait a little bit before committing to a particular Army.

The biggest thing though that I am looking forward to working on is Terrain, I started before with building my own storable boards, the tutorial for which is still on here I believe. I have a lot of Fantasy specific ideas floating around in my head but also some plans for 40k scenery as well, which I plan on posting up as I get into.

Outside of 40k/Fantasy Battle, I am a computer geek (I build my own PCs) and game addict, for the last 12 months or so, I took WoW back up, to spend time at home with the wife doing stuff that I could stop easily, I've played EvE and STO, and since release iv played SW:TOR. I play First Person shooters, not so much with online and RPG games. I've also played and DM/GM'd Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay, Dungeons and Dragons and AD&D, Battletech, World of Darkness. Magic The Gathering once in a while, once the Wife calms down about the last time I beat her several games in a row ;)

Anyway that is me, figured I would say hello and hopefully will see you around the forums!
