Incoming: High Elves

Quote
This October is devoted to the scions of Asuryan, as we release a series of new High Elf miniatures.

The High Elves are the noblest of races, the remnant of a once-mighty civilisation that spanned the globe. The titanic destruction unleashed by the Daemons of Chaos and the monstrous betrayal of the Dark Elves left their nation a shadow of its former might and glory, and yet the High Elves fight on. For millennia they have stood sentinel against the depredations of Chaos, thwarting the machinations of the Dark Gods over and again, and though their population has dwindled, the skill and determination of their armies remains steadfast.

In battle, the armies of the High Elves are a glorious sight to behold. Ranks of elite soldiers clad in unspotted white and glittering silver stand against the dark tide of the Forces of Destruction. With a mystical grace and agility that is incomparable to the lumpen, slothful gestures of lesser mortals, they cleave through the foe with spear and blade - their skill and speed a match for any foe. Volleys of white-fletched arrows are sent slashing into the foe, accompanied by the heavier, deadlier shots of the Eagle Claw Bolt Throwers, which can punch through even the thickest armour. Powerful High Elf Mages direct the ebb and flow of the Winds of Magic to smite the foe with incandescent flames, or protect their allies with the dazzling power of Asuryan, the king of the Elven gods.

For more information about the High Elf releases in October, watch out for future newsletters, keep an on the Games Workshop website and check out October's issue of White Dwarf.

I gotta say, this comes as a surprise to me. I was not expecting new High Elf models.

So, what do you guys think we'll be getting? The High Elf range is already pretty fantastic, and what with the release of the Island of Blood a few units are getting plastic models. I get a feeling we'll see White Lions and/or Phoenix Guard in plastic - there just doesn't seem much else to release at this point!

Yay.

Oh, an by the way, here are some hints on what might be included.

And also this has been on warseer for awhile.

Anyway, can't wait to see some new, awesome models. The IoB are awesome enough, and they are like 3 part models, can't wait to see what they do in this release.

According to today's Blog post, the following High Elf boxes will not be changing in any form:

Lord on Dragon
Prince and Noble
Mage
Spearmen
Archers
Chariot
Silver Helms
Repeater Bolt Thrower.

In addition to this, the High Elf Army Book will not be changing either.  This means, through process of elimination, that all of the following are candidates for new models:

Lothern Sea Guard (though these are ably represented by Island of Blood, they could still get their own release)
Swordmasters
Phoenix Guard
White Lions
Dragon Princes
Ellyrian Reavers
Shadow Warriors
Great Eagle

As well as any or all of the current Special Character range.
Regards,
MT.

Goddam hell no. The stig should stay as a mysterious figure. Its half the fun. People who want his identity revealed should be banned from driving and have their nuts cut off.

High elves do need more added to the plastic range... all the special units and rare units are so expensive to buy. Also seaguard have been oop for a while.

I would personally hazard that Swordmasters, Sea Guard, and Reavers won't get conventional plastic kits with this release. It'd make more business sense to keep them exclusive. I imagine that they'll end up like the Deff Koptas in Assault on Black Reach. I get a strong feeling at least one of the Special infantry trio is going to be made plastic, more likely Phoenix Guard or White Lions than Swordmasters. A cavalry kit like Dragon Princes sounds possible too.

I'm just basing it off of what we've seen GW do in the past with Second Waves. Shadow Warriors seem an odd unit to be plastic and their current models aren't exactly bad, so I don't see them getting an update. Same goes for Eagles.

I'll drop this: http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/productDetail.jsp?catId=cat440059a&prodId=prod900167a here.

New battalion. £55.

Pretty sure the old one had silver helms and less Spearmen. I think it had 16. Also cost £50.

Good find, Spark. I didn't expect that change.

Old Battalion was:

16 Spearmen
16 Archers
8 Silver Helms
1 Repeater Bolt Thrower

New Battalion:

20 Spearmen
20 Archers
Tiranoc/Lion Chariot
Repeater Bolt Thrower

I actually kind of like the new one. Silver Helms are a meh unit anyway, outclassed by Dragon Knights, and the nice, round 20-man unit sizes are good. And the Lion Chariot is a beast as ever.

I bought the old one, but the new one will be on the cards too. That with my pre-order for Island of Blood means I'll have a pretty decent army without having to buy anything else. Want more swordmasters though ;)

And another rumour thread form warseer :P

Here is a round up of the models that are predicted for the wave release.

The inclusion of the White Lions and Phoenix guard gives me hope, that they are getting rid of metal models for special choices, hopefully intending to sell them in at least packs of ten hopefully again with command. It gives me hope that maybe, Dwarf special choices may get the same treatment sometime in the near future.

Aye there is that... but it also makes it cheaper to have the option of all types of high elf force :D
I hope the phoenix guard get all the detail they deserve. I can imagine they will make them look very stoic and steady, and the white lions fluid and in motion.
If the IoB miniatures are anything to go by, we should be in for some great stuff!
